The creation of these paintings are built around movement. I use thinners with oil paints to make them more liquid so when the pigment meets the canvas it’s unstable and finds its own way. Occasionally I use water with acrylic to get this effect. I work intuitively, and the results are unpredictable. I add something figurative to the composition, but generally I don’t know what I’m going to do before I start and am led by the medium. The result can be dynamic, but equally can be calm and serene. Like all of my work, our place in the natural world is in my mind and heart while I add the figurative elements to these paintings.
