This painting is inspired by the dramatic skies in the West of Ireland where I live, painted in the winter when I get fascinated by light breaking through. Swans have a special place in my heart, in ancient Ireland, swans symbolised light and purity and were thought to connect us to the Otherworld of gods and goddesses, they also symbolise love because they mate for life.
