This painting is part of my recent silver birch series, I called it "Eternally Summer" because as much as I love a cosy evening by the fire, I love summer the most, the light, the warmth and all the symbolism that goes with it, swallows are part of this. Swallows symbolise a number of positive ideas including good luck, adaptability & rebirth. They epitomise a successful voyage and homecoming and in Portuguese folklore they symbolise love, loyalty and fidelity as well as the arrival of good news. I feel these things when the summer approaches and all things come into bloom. This painting, like all art, provides a snapshot in time that will always remain as it is today & in this painting it is eternally summer.
