Melting World
Oil and acrylic on canvas, 51cm x 46cm
This is a fluid painting, built around the movement of the medium. Unusually, in this painting, however, I put the figures in first because I wanted to build a painting around them. The scene is a father and child walking through a beautiful world with so much to offer but the sky is melting. The child is a symbol of hope. The human-constructed part of the scene is taken from a photograph I took in Italy but I like everyone to interpret my paintings in their own way. When I finish a painting, the meaning belongs to everyone who sees it and I like them to be universal.
