Forest of Golden Coins
Oil and acrylic on canvas, 100cm x 70cm
This is a fluid painting, built around the movement of the medium but is different from the others in this series because the movement comes from water and acrylic, not oil and thinners. I named this painting after a story I used to tell my daughter when she was small about a forest where everyone became kind in the end because an Ethiopian Princess showed them the way. The sun is warm, and the three little figures approach a forest which is set under a magical sky. Someone once thought that what I consider trees in this piece were mountains and that’s fine, everyone can take whatever resonates with them from my paintings, the meanings are universal and personal.
